Seminar #1:  Balancing Your Life & All the Responsibilities
Text: Psalm 37:7, John 5:6  
Target Audience: the Parents
Goals: To better cope with injustices that lead to stress and beginning
overwhelmed with the responsibilities of being a single parent.
Objectives:   1.) Naming their relationship 2.) Identifying injustice issues
and naming stressors with self, children and the world and recognizing the
evidence of God’s presence in the midst of it.  3.) Teaching and
demonstrating a meditation skill as a method of self-care.

Seminar #2:  Relating to the Parent and Beyond  
Text: Exodus 20:12, John 2:3  
Target Audience: Middle and High School students
Goals: To reflect upon the children’s thoughts or concerns relating with
their parents and other adults. Focus on a healthy relationship.
Objectives:   1.) Naming their relationship issues with the parents and
other adults in daily experiences that stem from parental stress issues. 2.)  
Discuss ways to better relate with their parents and other adults that lead
to healthy relationships.

Seminar #3:  Take the Child by the Hand  
Text: Genesis 21:17  
Target Audience: Parents and their Children together
Goals: Presents a role-play or forum on how to build a trusting relationship
between the parent and child.  It engages the parent in providing
encouragement while simultaneously giving directions to successively lead
the child through life’s journey. It fosters leadership to lead the child to be
more patient and understanding to the parent's role.
Objectives: 1.) Recalls rules and expectations given by parents to guide
them. 2.) Explores feelings: assurance, uncertainties, fear, trust, etc.

Dr. Willie Mae Hawkins
,M.Div., D.Min is the founder of Spring, Inc.- A
National Single Parenting Ministry.  She specializes in providing personal,
professional, parental, and spiritual development to the single-parent
family.  She has worked as a Qualified Mental Health Professional and
Therapist providing counseling services to adults and children. She has
assisted those who have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety
among women; and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and
oppositional defiant behavior among children. Her intensive research
includes identifying and reducing emotional and behavioral stress among
the single parent family.  She serves as Regional Women’s Ministry
Partner to more than 219 churches in the United Church of Christ and
providing spiritual leadership for more than 20,000 women. She is the
author of several books including,

W. Ray'von Hawkins, is a college student studying management and
marketing. He has served as a youth counselor and continues to be a role-
model for youths who seek to relate better with their parents.  He shares
glimpses of his life experience living in a single parent home in his
upcoming book,
How to Deal with a Nagging Parent, especially your
Mom!  
His book offers insightful tips to youths that moms will appreciate to
strengthen their single parent family.
